The Tale of Beaded Letters and an Unexpected Journey
Share
A few weeks ago, I began experimenting with creating beaded initials. I shared some pictures with friends, not thinking much of it, just excited to show what I’d made. To my surprise, one of them immediately reached out, asking if I could create an entire word using those initials. It was unexpected but exciting.
I crafted the word carefully, paying attention to every bead and sent her a sample along with the size specifications. That’s when the twist came—she loved the design but wanted the letters to be 3 inches tall so she could sew them onto a t-shirt. I hesitated at first. Could I really make them that big and still keep the detail? But her enthusiasm convinced me, and she placed her order right away.
As I worked on each letter, I shared progress pictures, making sure she was happy with how they were shaping up. During one of our chats, I asked if she wanted the letters permanently sewn onto the shirt or as detachable patches. When I explained that patches could be reused on other clothes, her excitement grew, and she chose patches.
The letters turned out beautifully, and I felt a deep sense of accomplishment as I packaged them for shipping. My goal was to get them to her by Christmas, and I was thrilled when the label indicated they would arrive on December 24th. But USPS had other plans, and now the estimated delivery is December 27th.
While I’m disappointed about the delay, I’ve realized this experience is about more than the timing—it’s about the connection, creativity, and problem-solving that brought the project to life. I know when she receives her patches, they’ll be worth the wait.
